BOAT & MARINE SHOW SRI LANKA, 30TH JANUARY – 01ST FEBRUARY 2026 AT COLOMBO CITY PORT
As you are aware, the boat and shipbuilding industry has been identified as a promising sector with significant potential to enhance Sri Lanka’s overall export performance offering a diverse range of products and services to international markets.
The Boat Show Sri Lanka, initiated in 2008 and held biennially is a key promotional event of this important industry. The show serves as a vital platform for industry stakeholders to showcase and market their products to potential clients, while also fostering investment opportunities in areas such as boat and shipbuilding, training, marine infrastructure, and marine tourism. The 8th edition of the Boat & Marine Show was organized from 27th – 29th October 2023 at Port City Marina displayed the products and services of Sri Lankan boat builders and allied industry/services companies in 66 stalls. The show attracted more than 5000 visitors including foreign visitors.
The 9th edition – the ”Boat & Marine Show 2026” from 30th January – 01st February 2026 at Colombo Port City is jointly being organized by the Export Development Board together with the Chamber of Marine Industries of Sri Lanka (CMISL). The show will serve as a platform to showcase the country’s capabilities in marine tourism, recreational boating, yachting and boat building which are mainly focused on exports.

Ambassador Thesleff in Colombo

The Ambassador of Sweden, Jan Thesleff recently concluded a successful and productive visit to Sri Lanka aimed at strengthening the ties between Sweden and Sri Lanka. Accompanied by Team Sweden and representatives of Swedish companies, the Ambassador met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Vijitha Herath; the Minister of Trade and Commerce, Mr. Wasantha Samarasinghe; the Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation, Mr Bima Rathnayake; the Minister of Environment, Dr. Dammika Patabendi; the Minister of Health, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa; and the Deputy Minister for Education and Higher Education, Dr. Madhura Senevirathne.
He also met with Leif I Ohlson, Secretary General for the Sweden–Sri Lanka Business Council to explore opportunities for enhanced trade, investment, and innovation between the two countries. During the visit, the Ambassador addressed the Sweden–Sri Lanka Joint Workshop on Innovation and Research in Colombo, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in sustainable development, technology, and knowledge exchange.
The visit marked an important step in advancing partnerships that foster innovation, sustainability, and shared prosperity between Sweden and Sri Lanka.
